Shine Salon in Savannah: our history.

Billy Purvis and Michael Whitehead are the founders of Shine Salon Savannah, a Bumble and bumble signature salon, located in downtown Savannah, Georgia.

Living in Savannah for more than ten years, these master stylists, with over 30 years of experience each, visualized an opportunity to create their own space to share not only their expertise, but also their core values.

The co-founders of Shine Salon Savannah designed their business to foster a positive customer experience in all steps their customers go through in engaging with the hair salon; to focus on the well-being and continuous education of their talented team; to continue providing high quality products and services to customers; to create a welcoming and relaxing environment; and to continue improving and serving with excellence their esteemed generations of customers.

Shine Salon Savannah opened the doors in 2019, but the salon strong positive reputation in the beauty industry has been growing for decades. It is the result of the talent and professionalism of each team member, which includes Billy Purvis and Michael Whitehead as well as Anna K. Amerson, Dawn Brown, Maria Vaughn, Kelly Sanders, and VML.

In Loving Memory of Our Co-Founder Michael Whitehead

In 2024, Shine Salon Savannah experienced a profound loss with the passing of our beloved co-founder, Michael Whitehead. Michael’s vision, artistry, and dedication helped shape the foundation of our salon from the very beginning. His passion for the profession, his love for the salon, and the care he extended to both clients and colleagues left an indelible mark on who we are today. Though he is no longer with us, his teachings, guidance, and legacy continue to live on in our hearts, in our work and in the culture of Shine Salon Savannah. Every day, we carry forward the inspiration he instilled in us, honoring his memory through the kindness, creativity, and excellence he championed.
