How to take care of your hair during the Summertime in Savannah?

We all know Savannah’s in the summer time is hot and humid. Heat and humidity can make our hair dry and frizzy.

  • Use Shampoo and conditioner with high quality ingredients that nourish, moisturize, and restore shine to your hair.

  • The products need to work for your hair type and bring nutrients to fulfill your hair needs.

How to use wash your hair?

According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, our scalp contains about 100,000 follicles and the health of our scalp may determine the health of our hair.

Besides selecting high quality products for your hair type, it is important to use it properly.

  • When shampooing your hair, you should focus primarily on the scalp, because the roots are often the oiliest.

  • If you wash only your hair, the result may not be very good. Your hair can become dull and dry.

  • Rinse your hair and scalp completely.

How to use hair conditioner?

  • After you rinse out all the shampoo, apply conditioner on the mid-length and the ends of your hair. Please avoid putting it on your roots and scalp.

  • The American Academy of Dermatology Association advises you to use conditioner after every shampoo unless you use a “2-in-1” shampoo.

  • After you rinse out all of the shampoo, apply conditioner on the mid-length and ends of your hair.

  • Please avoid putting it on your roots and scalp. Remember that the shampoo is the one to be used to clean your scalp.

In general, conditioners help:

  • Hydrate, smooth, and detangle your hair;

  • Make your hair less static, prevent damage, and reduce breakage;

  • Protect your hair without changing its texture;

  • Increase shine.

Different types of conditioners as well as shampoos may give you different benefits and results. We suggest that you choose your hair products based on your hair type.

How to take care of your hair after smoothing hair treatment?

  • Please keep your hair dry for at least 72 hours. Please avoid washing your hair for at least 72 hours and confirm with your master stylist if you need to keep your hair dry for longer. Do not get wet in the rain or sweat in the gym either.

  • Don’t tie your hair back for at least 72 hours. Your hair needs to be completely loose and straight for at least 72 hours after your service has been completed. Please don’t tie your hair, tuck your hair behind your ears, and while you sleep, leave your hair down.

  • You may consider using a silk pillow case. A silk pillow case helps reduce any friction. Consequently, it helps avoid frizz and damage on your hair’s cuticle.

  • Wash your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. The main purpose of sulfate, a type of chemical product, is to produce a rich lather to help you remove dirt and excess oil when washing your hair. A sulfate-free product will help your hair maintain its natural oils and leave your hair with more moisture, two important conditions for the health of your hair and scalp.

  • If possible, try not to wash your hair every day. The results of your smoothing hair treatment may last longer if you don’t wash your hair on a daily basis.

How to use heat protectant on hair?

Heat protection products are good for your hair. Heat can make your hair dry, cause split ends and hair breakage.

  • Use a heat protectant before styling. It will take few seconds and you will protect your hair from damages.

  • Before either blow-drying or flat-ironing your hair, we recommend that you apply a heat protectant to help avoid your strands from damage.

  • Like any other hair product, it is important to look for the right heat protectant for your hair type.

How to protect hair when swimming?

  • Protect your hair when swimming. Chlorine removes the natural oil from our hair.

  • The American Academy of Dermatology Association suggests to wet and condition your hair and wear a swim cap before getting in the pool.

  • After swimming, you can use an anti-chlorine shampoo and deep conditioner.

These simple tips can prevent hair damage, by replacing the lost moisture.

How often should you cut your hair?

Your hairstylist is the best person to tell you the frequency you should cut your hair, because the answer may be based on your hair needs and goals.

  • Health and length of your hair are factors that may impact on your trim frequency as well.

  • Regular trims are very important to keep your hair healthy and to prevent split ends and breakage.

  • If you have short hair you may need to trim your hair every 3-4 weeks.

  • If you have medium-length or long hair you may trim your hair every 6-8 weeks.
